Project Overview

OMNI Building was engaged to deliver a carefully considered upgrade and extension to the Charlestown Presbyterian Church facility, located at 14–16 Smart Street in Charlestown, NSW. The project involved alterations and additions to the existing church building to modernise the facilities and provide improved functionality for both worship services and community activities.

The development integrates new contemporary spaces with the existing structure while maintaining the character and purpose of the church. Key additions include a welcoming entry, a gathering space for congregation and community use, upgraded amenities, and improved accessibility throughout the building. The project was designed to support a capacity of up to 200 people and enhance the church’s ability to host services, events, and social gatherings.

Project Objectives

The primary objective of the project was to transform the existing church facility into a more functional, welcoming and accessible space for its growing congregation and community programs.

Scope of Work

OMNI Building delivered a comprehensive scope of works to upgrade and expand the church facility.

  • Alterations to the existing church building, including selective demolition and structural modifications
  • Construction of a new entry and welcoming foyer area
  • Development of a large gathering space for congregation and community use
  • Installation of a commercial-style kitchen and servery to support events and functions
  • Construction of a parents’ room and supporting community spaces
  • Installation of new accessible and ambulant toilet facilities in accordance with NCC requirements
  • Creation of an outdoor breakout area for informal gatherings
  • Civil works including driveway upgrades, stormwater infrastructure, and site improvements
  • Integration of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fire services
  • Internal finishes, joinery, ceilings, flooring, and lighting upgrades throughout the new spaces
